Introduction

Living things are all around us. They share a common set of features, but some look more alike than others. Living things can be grouped together based on these characteristics.

Our classification system was first introduced around 300 years ago. Classifying living things is very important since it helps us understand the diversity of life and allows us to make better decisions to protect our planet.
